Social Skills

Social skills (pragmatics) are important for all interactions and can be described as ‘how’ we use language. These skills can support successful communication across all environments.

It is also important to embrace and support difference and divergence within social communication.

  • Body language

  • Facial expressions

  • Tone of voice

  • Conversation skills – turn-taking, staying on topic, talking about others’ interests, changing topics smoothly, starting and ending conversations appropriately.

  • Eye contact

Difficulties with social skills can lead to challenges with making and maintaining friendships.

If your child needs support with social skills, we would love to help.
